About CPD
The Royal Veterinary College is the UK’s largest, oldest and only independent veterinary school, and the RVC’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Unit is the UK’s largest academic provider of educational services to the veterinary community. The RVC has a comprehensive programme of onsite and online CPD. We pride ourselves on always offering the highest quality independent CPD to inform, entertain and challenge veterinarians and veterinary nurses from many areas of clinical practice.
Whether our CPD involves lectures, case discussions, film reading, ultrasound workshops, surgical wet labs, interactive online lectures (webinars), or e-CPD online courses over several weeks, delivering practical, relevant and inspiring CPD is always the first priority of our tutors. Veterinary education and life-long learning are our business at the RVC, and the depth of our clinical expertise and educational commitment to CPD is unrivalled in Europe.
The courses offered range from seminars, lectures, interactive case based discussions, practical hands on sessions (using our unique Clinical Skills Centre and new Dissection lab) and courses based entirely on-line.
Most onsite courses are held at the RVC's Hawkshead campus at North Mymms, Hertfordshire which is in a pleasant semi-rural area conveniently located near the junction of the A1(M) and M25 motorways. The campus is approximately 40 minutes drive from Luton and Stansted airports and 50 minutes from Heathrow. Transport from Potters Bar train station (20 minutes from London Kings Cross) is available via a free RVC minibus (Monday-Friday) or a 5 minute taxi ride. Reasonably priced accommodation is available on and near the campus and complimentary parking is available for registered CPD delegates. New dedicated meeting and accommodation facilities will be available in 2012. Full catering is provided for all courses including refreshments on arrival and a two course lunch.
Our online courses include Webinar Plus courses – our new online experience in 2012 – online courses running for 4 weeks consisting of weekly 2 hour webinars with additional online learning support and activities to enhance your learning, Recorded Webinars - 2 hour lectures, and e-CPD courses - six week courses.
Pricing structure for courses
RVC CPD courses are VAT exempt. A 10% discount is available on the 4th and subsequent bookings made by an individual participant during 2012 and on the 6th and subsequent bookings made by a particular practice during 2012. CertAVP candidates are eligible for discounted CPD.
Course notes
Comprehensive course notes are provided for every course as part of the registration fee. If you are unable to attend a course but would like to read the material provided by the tutors, course notes may be purchased subject to availability.
