About this course

Analgesia is of increasing importance to farm animal vets and their owners, but what is available to be used within the licensing laws? As vets try to do more and more in the field, anaesthesia, both local and general, is required to do these procedures so how can this be achieved safely?

Updated in 2020, this webinar discusses pain in farm species, what causes pain and how we can recognise it. The webinar continues to discuss how we can treat the pain, within licensing laws, and what options are available to us as vets if we are able to pre-empt any pain. The final half hour of the presentation than goes through anaesthesia of farm species, and how to prevent any mishaps whilst doing this out in the field.

The webinar will be useful for those doing farm work, whatever their level of experience, as attitudes to pain and licensed treatments change. The webinar covers analgesia and anaesthesia in a wide range of farm species, and includes some approaches to surgery that although not novel, contradict the perceived wisdom of what has always been done.

A convenient and flexible way to earn some CPD hours without leaving home is to select webinars to view from our extensive library of recorded webinars. They are great value for busy practitioners seeking quality CPD at a time of their choice. Participants will receive a handout (slides and/or notes) to support their viewing session and a CPD certificate.
Participants gain access to the webinar for two weeks which allows them to view it at their leisure and convenience as well as review aspects as needed to enhance their learning.

Members of the BVA Young Vets Network receive a 50% discount on our recorded webinars (subject to availability – ten discounted places available per webinar per year).
