Computed x-ray tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are now in routine use in veterinary referral hospitals throughout the world. These modalities enable clearer depiction of anatomy than radiography and, therefore, are better detectors of disease than radiography. Veterinary practitioners need current knowledge of CT and MRI in order to select patients most likely to benefit from referral for imaging. Studying CT and MRI images can also increase our understanding of diseases affecting our patients.

This course will be of interest to practitioners who want to better understand the characteristics, indications and limitations of CT and MRI for dogs and cats. The day will involve lectures, case discussions, a practical on reading CT and MRI images and a tour of the RVC’s MRI and CT facilities.
