About this course

Want to improve your confidence in orthopaedic surgery? The basic principles for internal fixation of fractures by means of plates and screws will be covered in this one day practical and lecture-based course. The focus will be on the most commonly used plates and the use of lag screws. Preoperative planning and common complications will also be discussed. Both plastic bones and cadavers will be used for demonstrating surgical approaches and fracture plating.

The course will be of interest to any veterinarian wishing to refresh their knowledge and understanding of the principles of this fixation technique. It would also be useful CPD for candidates enrolled on the RCVS CertAVP module Orthopaedic Surgery A (C-SAS.6).
