Canine hypothyroidism is an endocrinopathy seen in dogs and presenting most commonly due to lymphocytic thyroiditis or idiopathic thyroid atrophy. Central and congenital hypothyroidism remain rare. Clinical signs associated with the conditions are often vague and accurate diagnosis can be challenging for practitioners. This webinar will recap the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis alongside the development of the clinical condition of hypothyroidism. Clinical signs and diagnostic modalities will be explored with an emphasis on accurate interpretation of thyroid function serology. Treatment options and therapeutic monitoring will be considered, and helpful tips delivered to nurses caring for these patients and their owners.

Feline pancytopenia was until recently a rare presentation to practitioners, especially in its primary form. In 2021 the veterinary industry experienced a saddening outbreak of the disease, raising awareness of the condition and causing much discussion on the methods of treatment available. This webinar will explore all three components of the disease and its potential causal agents. Clinical signs will be considered alongside the impact of this condition at a cellular level. Diagnostic techniques will be thoroughly discussed including accurate sampling and analysis.
