Course Information
This webinar will discuss how providing an environment that meets the environmental needs of the feline species can be achieved.
The environment, both social and physical, influences emotional motivations. Minimising negative (protective) emotion is important in order to optimise emotional and physical health. Optimising feline environments is therefore an important part of improving health and relies on a good understanding of natural feline behaviour and of feline environmental needs. Multi-cat households are increasing and in this domestic context feline environments need to be established with the number of social groups in mind. The term environmental enrichment is often used in the context of improving the domestic environment for companion animals but this implies providing something in excess of what is required. This author maintains that environmental optimisation is a more accurate term to describe the process of providing an environment that meets the environmental needs of the species and this webinar will discuss how this can be achieved.
