Course Information
David Bolt will be giving a lecture about the use of contrast radiography to identify synovial involvement in traumatic limb wounds and how this can help to decide if there is need for more than a suture. Michael Hewetson will follow up with a talk on how to perform thoracic ultrasound in the field and what common abnormalities may be identified, and Melanie Perrier will go over a few surgical emergency procedures that can be performed in the field and their indications. Among the procedures that will be described are tracheostomies and ligature of the common carotid artery. The evening will be concluded by a lecture on imaging the cervical spine in the field by Dagmar Berner, how to perform radiographic and ultrasonographic examinations of the equine neck.
