About this course

This course is made up of two recorded webinars. More details of each can be found below.

FGF23: What does the new marker mean?

How can I use the novel biomarker fibroblast growth factor-23 in practice: where can I measure it and what will the result tell me?

This webinar will review and explain the pathogenesis of CKD-mineral and bone disorder, including the key role of FGF23. How and where to measure FGF23 for cases in practice will be outlined and how to interpret the results will be briefly discussed.

Real life case examples of cats with CKD to illustrate when FGF23 measurement will be useful in the management of CKD-mineral and bone disorder. Interpretation of the initial measurement of this novel biomarker will be explored, and how to use FGF23 repeatedly to monitor response to intervention. The use of renal diets in early CKD cases will be discussed.

FGF23: Case examples of how and when to use this new marker for feline CKD patients

Which cats with CKD would benefit from measurement of FGF23, how do I interpret the result and what should I do next?

This webinar will use real life case examples of cats with CKD to illustrate when FGF23 measurement will be useful in the management of CKD-mineral and bone disorder. Interpretation of the initial measurement of this novel biomarker will be explored, and how to use FGF23 repeatedly to monitor response to intervention. The use of renal diets in early CKD cases will be discussed. Other factors that can affect FGF23 measurement will be outlined.

Why do these webinars?
These webinars are aimed at veterinary surgeons who would like to expand their understanding of CKDmineral and bone disorder in cats. Following this webinar vets will feel confident to know when and how to measure FGF23 and how to interpret the result, what interventions are appropriate to use and when FGF23 measurements can be misleading.

These webinars are part of the Recorded Webinar Series: Advanced nephrology and urology and can be purchased as a complete recorded series at a discounted price and includes a webinar on complex consult calls that are faced in everyday practice.
