- Blood sampling sites in exotics
- Injection sites
- considerations for exotics
- catheter sites in exotics
Exotic mammals, birds and reptiles have key differences to consider when injecting, blood sampling or placing an intravenous catheter. Do you know where to blood sample birds and reptiles? Do you know how rabbits and rodents differ? Are you confident in their adaptations?
As the exotic pet population continues to grow, more and more exotic animals are being seen in practice. Their anatomical adaptations and differences to cats and dogs result in a lack of confidence on where to administer injectable drugs, take blood samples or place IV catheters to provide gold standard care.
Learn about the differences in exotic pet species and how you can succeed in blood sampling and placing IV catheters in the common exotic pet species. Develop new skills allowing you to provide gold standard care in exotics as is routine in cats and dogs. Nurses and vets should be comfortable in these skills and can learn easily with talk through videos and tips on landmarks. This webinar will also provide considerations to help you pick the most appropriate vein or method depending on your situation.
Why do this course
Exotic pets are being seen more commonly in all practices and will continue to be more regular due to the rise in exotic pets. Their care should not differ from that given to cats and dogs. Learning how to blood sample, place IV catheters and where is best to administer injectable medications will not only improve their welfare but open up options for more complete diagnostics or allow confidence in providing a peaceful end intravenously. These skills are essential and easy for all to learn.
