About this course

In this case-based online course on fluid therapy, our aim is to focus on the practical application of concepts rather than theoretical constructs. Each week, different challenging cases will form the basis of the webinar presentations, forum discussions and exercises designed to let delegates apply their knowledge. The course will emphasise fluid therapy basics to more advanced scenarios involving different types of fluids and transfusion. The last week will discuss particular challenging metabolic cases (e.g., diabetic ketoacidosis, Addisonian crises, hepatic encephalopathy) and how fluid therapy is used in these cases.

The course will run for four weeks and is suitable for general and advanced practitioners. Learning material will be a mixture of two hour weekly webinars (which can be viewed live and/or as recorded version throughout the course), online case assessment exercises, supplementary reading material and discussion forums involving the tutors and veterinary colleagues from around the world. Participants can earn up to 16 CPD hours.

The course will be useful CPD for veterinarians preparing for the RCVS CertAVP C modules in emergency and critical care.
