Are you responsible for administering or caring for patients receiving cytotoxic medications?
The need to treat patients with chemotherapy agents is on an upward trend, both in the general and referral practice setting. As veterinary professionals, it is our responsibility to understand the essential requirements of working safely with cytotoxic and cytostatic medications and to practice without a risk to health. Interpreting the information available to us can be challenging, as there are currently no robust veterinary guidelines to direct us.
This course looks at the relevant areas of practice management (personal protective clothing, closed system devices, dealing with accidents, staff and client education) that will enhance your knowledge of the subject, assist you with equipment decisions and help you develop robust and safe systems of work.
Why do this course?
Aimed for nurses and veterinarians who are responsible for ensuring correct procedural activities within the practice, as well as those who will be handling or assisting with cytotoxic treatments. This blended learning platform will provide you with a greater understanding of the crucial elements needed for administering cytotoxic medications using evidence-based medicine and so reduce the risk of contamination within the workplace.
The webinars for this course will be pre-recorded and can be viewed as recorded versions throughout the course. A live Q&A session with the tutor will run on the following dates at 1pm London time.
