This online course in medical nursing enables you to develop an advanced level of knowledge and deeper understanding of the assessment, diagnostic investigation, treatment and nursing techniques of animals with acute or long-term medical diseases. We concentrate on integrating theoretical and practical knowledge to enable you to develop strategies for critically assessing patient needs and planning appropriate patient management requirements.
This course will allow you to explore some common but challenging patient scenarios and develop a critical approach to the sick patient and be able to plan and deliver effective care using an evidence-based approach.
Each week, a new topic will be introduced, and you will work your way through problem-solving for patients with some of the following conditions:
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Haemopoietic and lymphoreticular disorders
- Urogenital disorders
- Respiratory disorders
- Cardiovascular disorders
- Endocrine disorders
- Oncology
- Infectious diseases including infection control
The course is ten taught weeks (excluding two weeks during Christmas break).
