Course Information
- A range of clinical problems common in small animal practice will be discussed
Would you like to practice your small animal medical clinical reasoning skills in a fun and interactive format?
During this series of interactive webinars, we will use a case based approach to enhance your clinical reasoning skills as well as your knowledge base and understanding. The webinars are entirely case based rather than subject based so that clinical thinking can be articulated clearly and important knowledge relevant to that case presented in an appropriate context. Each case discussion will cover the logical approach to one or more clinical signs, interpretation of clinical pathology and other diagnostic aids appropriate to the case. The case discussions will be interactive with opportunity for you to explore particular clinical questions of interest.
Why do this course?
Veterinarians must make rapid decisions every day about diagnostic and treatment options for their patients. Clinical reasoning skills form the cornerstone of those decisions as well as a sound and appropriate (to the case) knowledge base. The latter also must include an understanding of important pathophysiological principles relevant to the patient’s clinical problem. However, knowing the facts is not the same as knowing what to do. Knowledge is only useful if it can be accessed, formulated and applied to the problem at hand. These webinars will sharpen your clinical decision making by refreshing and enhancing your problem-based clinical reasoning skills.
We recommend that you view the first webinar before the others as this will explicitly discuss the clinical reasoning framework we will be using for all of the cases. (This isn’t essential, especially if you have had any experience with logical clinical problem solving during your undergraduate veterinary course or at CPD courses anywhere in the world presented by Jill and/or David.)
Webinar dates:
Wednesday 17th September (recorded)
